The Hibiscus Ride

The 2015 Hibiscus Festival will include the Hibiscus Ride, a signature bicycle event. The Hibiscus Ride will be offered through a partnership between Vero Cycling and Main Street Vero Beach. It is designed to appeal to both local cyclists and out-of-town visitors.

The Hibiscus Ride will be on Saturday, April 18th and offer multiple routes all designed to highlight the beautiful scenery of Indian River County, including shore-line and lagoon views, historic neighborhoods and interior agriculture settings.

Said Janie Graves Hoover, Chair of the Hibiscus Festival: “Adding the Hibiscus Ride to the festival continues the effort by Downtown Vero Beach to present our Downtown as a desirable destination. As the Hibiscus Festival celebrates its 12th anniversary in 2015, the Hibiscus Ride provides another reason for local residents and visitors to consider Indian River County at the top of their hospitality list. Partnership with Vero Cycling offers further evidence of the healthy reputation enjoyed by the Treasure Coast.”

Vero Cycling club President Giorgio Res added: “Main Street Vero Beach has established itself as a vibrant supporter of the bicycling community. The inaugural Hibiscus Ride will give our region the prestige of a signature 100 mile bike ride event in conjunction with the already celebrated Hibiscus Festival. With the associated shorter routes, we hope the ride attracts large numbers of cyclists from throughout the region that will add to the success of the Festival and add to the reputation of Vero Beach as a bicycle-friendly community.”

The Hibiscus Ride will be distinguished by offering both an English century (100 mile), and metric century (100 kilometers or 62 miles). Alternative routes will also be presented for riders interested in shorter rides. There will be numerous designated rest stops along the way for riders to refresh with food and water.

The ride has its own website; and registration is available on Additional information about the ride is available through links from each organization’s web sites, and
